At a recent networking event the conversation turned to business advice we had each received over the years and its usefulness.
Did we follow the advice to the letter, take it with a pinch of salt or pig-headedly take the opposite course of action?
These days if you have no-one available to ask that vitally important question of, and you can’t wait for an answer, what would you do?
Where would you find that much needed advice?
In most cases the answer would be go online and search. There will no doubt be numerous websites dedicated to your industry and speciality; and various forums within these, whose members will be delighted to help out where they can.
Perhaps surprisingly help can also be found via the HMRC website. During August you can access a number of free live webinars on subjects varying from Business Expenses for the Self Employed to The Responsibilities of Company Directors. If the scheduling of the webinars does not suit your business you can also access previous pre-recorded Seminars
We think the service is particularly useful because as recently as June 2012 the average wait for your call to be answered by HMRC is a lengthy 5 minutes 45 seconds. Just this week HMRC announced the recruitment of an additional 1000 call centre staff in a bid to improve these statistics and achieve its target of answering 90% of all calls!
